Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, scheduled for release in January 2025, continue to generate interest.
However, a new report has surfaced indicating a possible significant price hike for the flagship S25 Ultra.
The news comes after the device’s production costs have increased by at least 104 euros compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Snapdragon 8 Elite, the main reason for the price increase
One of the factors that could contribute heavily to this cost increase is the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which will power the entire Galaxy S25 series.
This processor, about 20% more expensive than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, promises top performance, but also brings additional financial pressure to the South Korean company.
In addition, the S25 Ultra is expected to introduce improvements that are hard to overlook, such as a larger display, 50-megapixel ultra-wide and telephoto cameras, as well as a slimmer build and rounded corners.
How the price could influence the consumer
If Samsung were to fully pass on the additional costs to buyers, their new smartphone could reach a price of around 1,330 euros.
This amount would significantly exceed rival models such as the iPhone 16 Pro Max (1,132 euros) or the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL (1,037 euros).
However, analysts believe that a more moderate price increase of around 47 euros is more likely as Samsung tries to stay competitive.
Between innovation and pragmatism
Despite the high costs, the company’s pricing strategy could depend on consumer reception of the Galaxy S24 Ultra model, which has already seen a price increase of 94 euros in 2024.
Raising prices for two consecutive years could be perceived negatively, so the company could absorb some of the costs to keep its customers loyal.
Preparations for the January release
The Galaxy S25 series, including the S25, S25 Plus and S25 Ultra models, is expected to be unveiled on January 22, 2025 at the Galaxy Unpacked event.
Rumors also suggest the launch of a new model, the S25 Slim, which will combine premium features in a compact design.
Until then, it remains to be seen how Samsung will manage the balance between innovation, cost and the ultimate price for users.
