Three years after a successful first season, Arcane finally unveiled its new episodes, on November 9, 2024. But is a season 3 planned for the Netflix series, inspired by the video game League of Legends ?
Rarely has a season 2 generated as much excitement as this one. But, three years after the first adventures of sisters Vi and Jinx on the small screen, Netflix has finally answered fans’ prayers by unveiling the long-awaited sequel toArcane. The first episodes of season 2 were put online on the most famous streaming platform on November 9, 2024. So, while waiting for part 2 on November 16, it is time to ask yourself if Arcane will benefit from a season 3.
Unfortunately, the answer will disappoint fans of the series. However, everything is not over and the players of LoL should quickly find a smile again.
Why won’t there be a season 3 ofArcane ?
The bad news was announced from June 2024 by the co-creator of the series, Christian Linke: Arcane will end at the end of its season 2. Vi and Jinx should therefore experience a tragic end, or not, after these final episodes.
However, Netflix’s animated production should first have taken place over five seasons, before this objective was revised downwards, following the exorbitant budget spent by Riot Games, which publishes League of Legendsto produce Arcane.
Christian Linke nevertheless affirmed that, from the beginning of the project, they had a “very specific end in mind”. This explains why the series ends with this season 2, if this famous conclusion has already been reached.
What’s next for Arcanelocated in the universe of League of Legends ?
However, the characters in the series have not yet said their last word. During its Geeked Week, in September 2024, Netflix announced that an aftershow called Afterglow would be put online, following season 2 ofArcane. If no precise date has been revealed at the moment, we still know that the original cast of the series, which therefore doubles the protagonists in original version, will participate in this special show. Ella Purnell (Jinx) and Hailee Steinfeld (Vi) will therefore be there to decipher each episode and take us behind the scenes of one of the best Netflix productions.
New projects are also said to be in development between Riot Games, which holds the rights to League of Legendsand the French studio Fortiche, which developed the animation ofArcane. Other emblematic video game characters could thus have the right to dedicated adaptations, like Vi, Jinx or Caitlyn were able to have their hour of glory on Netflix.
During from a published video on June 11, 2024 by the official account of League of Legends on X (formerly Twitter), Christian Linke reassured fans: “Arcane is just the beginning of our journey into this narrative universe and our fantastic partnership with the Fortiche studio”. For him, the series is “just the first of many stories we want to tell in the Runeterra universe”. The creators seem to want to give other characters the same treatment as Vi and Jinx.
Christian Linke ended his intervention hoping to be able to give news to fans by the end of 2024, about these new projects, planned for television and cinema. Since then, he has been able reveal to the American media ScreenRant that certain well-known characters ofArcane could continue to exist, without however specifying who it will be. Mystery and gumball, then.

As with season 1, Netflix has decided to divide the second season ofArcane in three parts, three very distinct acts put online according to a very specific schedule. Here it is:
