Unusual situation in Constanța county. Approximately 70 elderly people housed at a nursing home in the town of Poarta Albă were relocated to a safe space after the strong wind caused the uncontrolled rotation of the propellers of a wind turbine located in the yard.
According to the Department for Emergency Situations, taking into account the fact that 3 LPG tanks were located in the courtyard of the dormitory, the decision was taken to relocate people as a precaution.
“Constanța firefighters are facing, this evening, in the town of Poarta Albă, a less usual situation. They were called to intervene to manage a situation generated by weather conditions that caused the uncontrolled rotation of the propellers of a wind turbine located in the yard of an old people’s home, with the risk of detachment.
In order to eliminate the risks, taking into account the fact that 3 LPG tanks are located in the yard of the home, the decision was taken to relocate approximately 70 elderly people to a safe space”, says the DSU, on Facebook.
The transport of people is carried out with the means of intervention of the ISU – minibuses and ATPMV.
Crews from all authorities with responsibilities in managing the situation to eliminate the risks and protect the affected people acted on the spot, under the coordination of ISU Constanţa.
“We recommend the population to respect the indications of the authorities and to avoid the affected perimeter until the situation is remedied”, reports DSU.
