Bug in Windows Update: After installing the current November patches, a false warning may occur under Windows 11 23H2.
It’s been a few days since Microsoft rolled out the November patches for all current Windows versions. According to Windows Latest, thousands of users reported that Windows 11 23H2 had an annoying bug. The Windows update function claims that the end of support for the version has been reached and users should update to the latest version of the operating system. A Microsoft spokesman confirmed the error, promised a fix and assured that there is no need for action yet.
The current version of Windows 11 is 24H2, but its predecessor 23H2 is officially supported until November 11, 2025. This means consideration for all future security and feature updates. If you don’t want to update to the error-prone 24H2 update, you are best served with the more sophisticated version 23H2. If you encounter the error, you can ignore the message until Microsoft fixes the error. You do not have to take advantage of a download offer for 24H2.
The error has occurred for Windows 11 23H2 since the current patch KB5046633, which has been deployed since Tuesday this week. Loud Windows Latest Microsoft will fix the error with a server-side update. So there is no recommendation to take action regarding your version of Windows or the new bug.
In addition to the newly discovered bug, Microsoft has fixed some problems and closed security gaps with the November patches for Windows, as we reported. For example, attackers could use crafted files to impersonate logged in users. A vulnerability in the Windows Scheduler could be exploited to increase privileges illegally. The updates for Windows 11 and Windows 10 also include new features such as a revised WiFi password dialog and a new gamepad keyboard layout that makes input via the Xbox controller easier.
