Windows 11 can have app categories like in IOS

In the description of Microsoft’s latest Insider beta among other things, what changes have been made with the file explorer and the taskbar are listed. Via X user Phantomofearth has Neowin pointed out that there may also be changes in the works for the start menu, in the form of an iOS-like section to categorize programs.

The app library in IOS and iPad OS sorts installed apps into categorized groups such as “Games”, “Productivity”, “Social” and “Entertainment”. Build 22635.3930 of Windows 11 includes a new feature ID, that is, a code that activates a specific feature, which can be activated to access a similar category view. However, the implementation is unfinished and not usable in its current form.

In the stable version of Windows 11, there is already the “All apps” user interface, which lists installed programs in alphabetical order, as well as the grid view similar to Launchpad in Mac OS. Whether the category view later finds its way into a stable version of Windows remains to be seen.
