Microsoft has introduced new features in the latest build of Windows 11 within the Canary channel, identified as 27686which make this operating system a little more efficientand also more customizable and easier to manage for any user profile, although the new feature we are going to see today is aimed at laptops, convertibles and 2-in-1s.
The Redmond company claims that with this build has introduced optimizations which will improve battery life per charge. He has not specified these optimizations, but has invited all members of the Canary channel to give them feedback so that they can find out if these optimizations are working, or if on the contrary they have not had the expected effect.
On the other hand, Microsoft has also introduced an important change that will make it easier to use laptops. in battery mode and plugged into the power supplysince we will not have to go back into the configuration settings to change plans every time we are using our device in one of those two modes.
Two custom plans on Windows 11
This is another of the most important changes that Microsoft has introduced with this new build, and one of the most successful. So far We could only use one power plan with Windows 11, which means that if we had an energy saving plan active for use in battery mode and we connected the laptop to a socket we had to manually change to another plan that offered more performance.
With this new build it is possible to have two different power plans configured that They will be activated depending on the mode we are using the equipment. Thus, if we are using the laptop with the battery, the plan associated with that mode will be used, and if we have it connected to the power supply, the plan linked to this mode will be used. We will no longer have to change it manually.
In the attached image you can see that we can also choosing a general power plan so that it applies uniquely to the system, which is exactly where it appears above those two optional modes that differentiate between battery use and plugged-in laptop. Just below that we have other configuration options that we already know.
Ideally, taking advantage of this new option, you would choose the power saving mode to use the laptop in battery mode and the high performance plan when it is plugged in. We do not know when this new feature will reach the general channel, but since it has just been launched in the Canary channel, it is most likely that it will not be available yet. there are still a few months left.
