- Windows 11 displays notifications from time to time offering apps and games
- In fact, it is an ordinary advertisement that has no business in a paid product
- We’ll show you where to turn this behavior off
Windows 11 from time to time they show ads. They try to disguise it as tips, sometimes more and sometimes less successfully. This tells users that they should use OneDrive, Defender or Office 365. So far, these are fairly useful tips. But what if the operating system, for which users paid a lot of money, starts to display advertising already games?
That and the display of advertising (and nothing else) on Defender is on the edge. This is not Defender, which is a free part of Windows, but Microsoft Defender Microsoft 365. It is part of Office 365 and to use it you must have subscription. As pointed out by WindowsLatest, some users are seeing ads for games, specifically Black Ops 6: Vault Edition.
Ads can be turned off
Fortunately, Microsoft allows you to turn off these ads. Go to Settings → System → Notification. Here, scroll all the way down and expand the More settings menu. Be warned, a rather long list of individual app notifications will pop up above this setting, it can be a bit confusing. Do you believe this is a coincidence?
Here turn off the items that bother you. You can turn off all of themyou probably won’t miss anything important.
