Windows Server 2025 supports a wide range of processors. The list of supported CPUs also includes weaker dual-core Intel Pentium processors. We bring their complete list.
Windows Server 2025 expands support for a range of Intel and AMD processors, from dual-core Pentium G7400 consumer processors to the most powerful multi-core Xeon and EPYC chips. For Intel processors, support is included for chip architectures from Xeon SP second to fifth generation (Granite Rapids, Emerald Rapids and older Cascade Lake). At the same time, Microsoft surprisingly also supports the weaker consumer Pentium G7400 and G7400T, even though they are dual-core CPUs with lower performance.
On the AMD side, Windows Server 2025 focuses exclusively on the EPYC server series with support from Zen 2 to Zen 5, i.e. models of the 7002, 7003, 4004 series and others. Ryzen consumer processors are not included for certification. The list of supported processors serves primarily as a condition. Microsoft plans to update it gradually to include newer processors.
CPU Intel | Second to fifth generation Xeon SP processors (x2xx, x3xx, x4xx, x5xx); Xeon 6 SP (67xxE) processors; Xeon E 23xx and 24xx; Xeon D 17xx, 18xx, 21xx, 27xx, 28xx; Pentium G7400 and G7400T |
CPU AMD | AMD EPYC 7xx2, AMD EPYC 7xx3, AMD EPYC 4xx4, AMD EPYC 8xx4, AMD EPYC 9xx4 a AMD EPYC 9xx5 |
The new system has improved I/O throughput, support for GPU sharding, and advanced security including VBS. Windows Server 2025, now officially available, has 10 years of support ahead of it.
