Parts of the country may be hit by the winter’s first snowfall and strong winds when a fierce low pressure approaches Denmark on Tuesday.
This is what the preliminary forecasts at the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) read.
– It looks like there will be a few grim days ahead, says on-duty meteorologist Mette Zhang.
According to the meteorologist, it will be sleet and sleet, which will especially affect the south-eastern parts of the country during Tuesday.
– If you leave for work on Tuesday morning, it will probably be in fairly quiet weather.
– But when you go home in the afternoon, it will probably be somewhat harsher weather, says Mette Zhang.
It is still uncertain how much precipitation will come. The expectation is that it will be a mixture of rain, sleet and sleet.
Wednesday can also be a rough affair, with the wind picking up even more.
– Wednesday looks like it will be really windy with strong winds to strong gales from between north and west.
– There can easily be strong gusts up to storm force, perhaps even stronger, says Mette Zhang.
It will be a few days when the weather can also have an impact on traffic, the meteorologist estimates.
– Depending on when the white precipitation falls, you can expect that evening traffic on Tuesday may be affected, at least in the southern part of the country.
– Wednesday traffic will certainly be affected. If not from the whitish precipitation, then at least from the wind. There may be restrictions on some bridges, says Mette Zhang.
The strong wind can also cause increased water levels when strong winds from the north push the water masses down through the inland Danish waters.
– We have forecasts that say we may also face challenges with increased water levels, says Mette Zhang.
DMI continuously updates the forecasts on its website.
