The match started with effective Spanish attacks, the Hungarian defense was unable to stop the opponent’s actions, so after just nine minutes, at 6-3, national team captain Vladimir Golovin called for time out.
This put things in order in the Hungarian minds, the attacks became more precise and the defense more effective, moreover, Blanka Böde-Bíró’s head shot gave the Hungarian national team a man advantage, which was managed by Ambros Martín, who previously worked in Győr and was also the leader of the Hungarian national team. Spaniards. What’s more, the Hungarian team soon led by two goals, which withdrew again after the Spaniards caught up.

The difference continued to grow, as the Hungarian team defended well, and Böde-Bíró saved several shots, including a jump shot. At the end of the half, however, the Spaniards closed in closer, because the Hungarians made several mistakes at that time, and the opponent caught up quickly.

Six minutes into the second half, when the Spanish national team captain asked for a time-out with Hungary leading 19-14. He managed to shake up his players because they caught up to two goals. The attacking game of the Hungarians was uncertain at this stage, and the Spaniards were able to throw two penalties in a row. Janurik Kinga was in goal for the second one, but he couldn’t save either. The Hungarians couldn’t find the gap in the Spanish wall and weren’t accurate from passing shots or from the wing either. Böde-Bíró saved a rebound at 20-19, but the Spanish equalized even before halftime.
At the end of a 6-0 run, the Spaniards briefly took the lead, but Vámos responded quickly. At 21-21, the score did not change for several minutes, Böde-Bíró had a significant role in this, saving the shots, and then Simon Petra’s shot finally found its way into the goal.

The answer came quickly, but Katrin Klujber scored a smart goal at the end of a long attack on a passive signal. There was a rumble of “all in!”, then Böde-Bíró saved again, and Petra Vámos increased the advantage to three from two break-ins, then Klujber aimed again accurately after a Spanish goal.
A Spanish timeout followed at 26-23, with more than three minutes to go. However, the opponent was unable to innovate, so in the middle of the half, they found themselves in a deep hole, but the Hungarians, who climbed out of it nicely and played well again in the first half, fought for the important victory and celebrated reaching the quarterfinals by holding each other and jumping, and then thanked the audience for their support.
Katrin Klujber scored six goals, Viktória Győri-Lukács and Petra Füzi-Tóvizi scored five goals, and Blanka Böde-Bíró saved 11 shots. On the other side, Alexandrina Cabral was the most successful with six hits. Nicole Wiggins blocked 11 shots, Mercedes Castellanos twice.
