With the Innovation District, Kragujevac is becoming a leader in digital transformation

During 2025, the construction of the first building of the Innovation District in Kragujevac, a key project for the development of Serbia’s digital infrastructure, will be completed, announced Dr. Mihailo Jovanović, Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment. The district will include three buildings, including the central facility as the “heart” of the complex and two buildings intended for users of the State Data Center.

After a meeting with Mayor Nikola Dašić and representatives of the University of Kragujevac, the Science Fund and the economic sector, Jovanović stated that the Government of Serbia allocated about 55 million euros for this project within the budget for the period 2025-2027. year, according to the Office for IT and eGovernment.

The Innovation District, located on an area of ​​4.5 hectares, is planned as a continuation of the development of the State Data Center. The total capacity of the complex will be 85,000 m²and its content includes business incubators, startup spaces, centers for artificial intelligence and roboticsas well as a section dedicated to bioengineering and bioinformatics.

A special place will be the center for information securitywhile the district will also become a home of the fifth Science and Technology Park in Serbia.

Jovanović emphasized the importance of this project for the further development of digitization and the economy in Serbia, stressing that the complex will encourage new investments, create jobs and accelerate economic growth. The project is part of the “Leap into the future – Serbia 2027” strategy, which includes the modernization and construction of innovative infrastructure facilities.

Nikola Dašić, the mayor of Kragujevac, pointed out that the Innovation District will contribute to redefining the city’s identity. Kragujevac, known for its industrial tradition, is transformed into a center of innovation and knowledgethanks to strategic investments and state support.

In addition to existing projects, such as The State Data Center and the National Platform for Artificial IntelligenceKragujevac is positioning itself as a leader in the digital transformation of the region.

Dašić emphasized that Kragujevac has a rich base of young and educated experts, which further strengthens the city’s potential.

According to him, Kragujevac is becoming a place where traditional values ​​meet innovations, and potentials meet opportunities.
