It’s the middle of winter and that’s the perfect time to buy a convertible. There are few privateers on the coast if you look at a car and you will soon have a nice ride ahead of you with the first spring sun. Imagine riding around with your hair (or your bald head, perhaps more likely) in the fresh April wind with the wonderful roar of a V8 in the background. Then you’re quite the man, aren’t you? This can become a reality for just under €10,000, because that is what this Jaguar XK costs. For that money you get an XK that is still in good condition based on the photos and has a healthy mileage of 221,000 km: not too high, but certainly not too low either. The advertiser says: “We bought the car from a customer of ours here in the village. He owned the car for seventeen years. This Jaguar has therefore been stored in a company hall all that time.” A license plate check shows that the XK was indeed with the previous owner for seventeen years, so that sounds good. That V8 will also sound good, although it is of course a bit exciting whether it will all remain intact. In any case, it is known that with the V8 you have to pay attention to the vulnerable camshaft chain tensioner and guides. Ideally, these should be replaced to prevent any misery. Furthermore, with a 25-year-old car, you shouldn’t be surprised if other imperfections appear. That €10,000 may not get you there yet, but hey, you can still get a really cool ride for relatively little!
