American rapper Wiz Khalifa was arrested in Romania after smoking marijuana on stage during a concert at the Beach Please! festival in Costinești, in the east of the country.
A video shows the rapper being taken away by Romanian authorities, who formally charged him with possession of 18 grams of marijuana and consumption of it. Recreational use of cannabis is illegal in Romania.
According to the newspaper “Metro”, Wiz Khalifa was questioned and released by Romanian authorities on Sunday, a day after his performance at the festival. At X, the rapper apologized for his behavior and promised to return to the country in the future.
“Yesterday’s concert (Saturday) was incredible. I didn’t want to disrespect Romania by smoking on stage,” he wrote. “They were very respectful to me, and let me go. I’ll be back, this time without a giant smack.”
