Apple announced that it would begin work on the series “Woman in the Lake” in 2021, but the production has encountered a number of problems and delays along the way. Today, the first episodes finally debuted on Apple TV+.
“The Woman in the Lake” is an adaptation of the crime novel of the same name by Laura Lippman. The action of the series takes place in the 1960s in Baltimore. Its main character is a novice reporter, Maddie Schwartz, investigating the death of a young girl, Cleo Sherwood. These roles are played by Natalie Portman (Oscar winner for her role in the film “Black Swan”) and Moses Ingram (who previously appeared in the film “The Tragedy of Macbeth” on Apple TV+). The series was written and directed by Alma Har’el (including “Bombay Beach” and “LoveTrue”). The production for Apple was handled by Crazyrose, Bad Wolf America, Zusa and Endeavor Content. The author of the original novel was also involved in the work on the series.
The series “Woman of the Lake” will consist of seven episodes, but Apple has made only the first two of them available on Apple TV+ today. The next ones will be added to the service catalog every week on Friday.
