Woori Bank (CEO Cho Byeong-gyu) announced on the 24th that it held the awards ceremony for the ‘4th Simulated Hacking Competition (hereinafter referred to as WooriCon)’ jointly held with the Financial Security Institute (CEO Kim Cheol-woong) on ​​the 23rd.

The awards ceremony was attended by key figures including Woori Bank CEO Cho Byeong-gyu, Financial Security Institute Director Kim Cheol-woong, and expert judges.

This mock hacking competition was held from August 19th to 30th, with a total of 43 teams and 136 college students participating to identify risk factors in digital banking that could expose them to hacker attacks.

The judges, consisting of hacking experts and university professors, selected the top five teams based on the risk and impact of each team’s results, including the Grand Prize (1 team), Best Prize (1 team), Excellence Prize (1 team), and Encouragement Prize (2 teams), and awarded them a total of 10 million won in prize money. The winners will receive preferential treatment in the document screening process when applying for jobs in the digital/IT division of Woori Bank and the Financial Security Institute.

Meanwhile, the mock hacking competition, which was first held by Woori Bank in 2021 and is now in its fourth year, is establishing itself as a competition that provides job opportunities to young people and fosters excellent information security personnel.
