World leader in donuts Dunkin’ arrives in France

In 2025, the American brand Dunkin’ will open the doors of its first point of sale in Paris, before expanding to other major French cities such as Lyon and Montpellier.

Will the donut dethrone pastries in the land of the croissant? After the arrival of the Krispy Kreme brand in France at the end of 2023, another American donut giant is preparing to make its appearance in France. From the beginning of next year, Dunkin’ – which has more than 13,700 points of sale worldwide, including nearly 10,000 in the United States – will set up shop “in a significative way” on French territory with the opening of a first establishment in the capital.

Other major cities such as Lyon and Montpellier should also soon welcome the world leader in donuts. This news was awaited by many French consumers. A Facebook page called “For the arrival of Dunkin Donut’s in France” with more than 3,000 followers had even been created.

The brand will be operated in France by Quick Service Restaurant Platform (Burger King, Quick, O’Tacos). “We are pleased to announce that QSPR and Inspire Brands (Editor’s note: the group to which Dunkin’ belongs) have signed an exclusive agreement to bring Dunkin’ to France. We are all grateful and delighted to have taken this step with Dunkin’ as part of our growth strategy.”writes the operator on LinkedIn.

A boon for the donut industry

From the point of view of its main competitor Krispy Kreme, the establishment of this new donut specialist in France is not really viewed negatively: “Dunkin’ is the world leader in the sector. Its arrival will allow us to evangelize the French a little more about this product.”says Alexandre MaizouĂ©, general manager of Krispy Kreme France, in the columns of Echos.

Additionally, the two companies have somewhat different strategies: while Krispy Kreme focuses on selling its famous round doughnuts, Dunkin’ is diversifying its offering by focusing more on hot drinks (like Starbucks). Also according to The echoesthese products represent 60% of its turnover across the Atlantic.
