China Unicom Beijing and Huawei introduced the world’s first large-scale integrated 5G-Advanced smart network at the event held in Beijing. This high-bandwidth technology, which has been implemented at important points such as the Workers’ Stadium and the Great Wall of China, offers 68,000 people the opportunity to watch high-definition video simultaneously. It also revolutionizes user experience with a wide range of applications, from low-altitude aerial communications to AI-powered network optimizations.
Yang Lifan, Deputy General Manager of China Unicom Beijing, said: Emphasizing the contribution of this new network to the user experience, he said, “10 gigabit network capabilities offer a unique experience for our users. “With Huawei’s advanced technology, we will further improve the connection quality for all our users in Beijing,” he said.

Complete Coverage in Every Point of the City
China Unicom Beijing and Huawei have built an ultra-large-scale 5G-Advanced three-component carrier (3CC) network, covering a wide area from stadiums to subway stations, commercial areas to residential areas, including Beijing’s 4th Ring Road and Beijing Municipal Administrative Center. Thanks to this infrastructure, high-tech services such as UHD live broadcasts, cloud-based games and real-time navigation are supported. While 85% of the city is covered by 5G-Advanced, services such as emergency calls, route planning and car calling are also offered through the renewed old phone booths.
Worldwide Record Speed
In cooperation with Huawei and GTVerse, an integrated 5G-Advanced network was established at the Workers’ Stadium. Thanks to 3CC sites installed indoors and outdoors, download speeds of 11.2 Gbps are reached, and participants can watch UHD videos uninterruptedly even during an event with 68,000 people. At the same time, this network, where uplink speeds reach 4 Gbps, supports intensive data requirements such as UHD compressed data transfers and augmented reality applications. This technology also accelerates the digital transformation of businesses with IoT (Internet of Things), IoV (Internet of Vehicles) and XR (Extended Reality) solutions.
Low Altitude Economy at the Great Wall of China
10 gigabit 5G-Advanced base stations installed at the Great Wall in Yanqing district provide uninterrupted coverage from ground level to the airspace 300 meters below. This integrated infrastructure; While it supports innovative applications in areas such as tourism, logistics, emergency operations and historical monument protection, it also makes it possible to manage drone flights more safely. It makes significant contributions to providing rapid medical aid and ensuring the safety of tourists, especially in emergency situations.
AI-Powered Automation and Smart Optimization
Using Huawei’s 5G intelligent operation platform, China Unicom Beijing is reducing installation times of 5G-Advanced base stations to minutes compared to several days. Artificial intelligence-supported processes eliminate manual intervention from installation to optimization, while minimizing security risks. Additionally, AI-based optimization algorithms reduce energy consumption by 10% while improving user service experience. Thanks to distributed computing power, a locally managed and highly accurate network is created at base stations.
