Would Intel and Samsung team up against TSMC?

According to MK, the giant company from Santa Clara approached the South Koreans.

The South Korean MK according to his exclusive report, Intel and Samsung may team up against TSMC, as the manufacturing business of both companies is seriously ailing, so they cannot keep up with their Taiwanese competitor.

According to the article linked above, Intel approached Samsung to create a Foundry alliance, within the framework of which they would share the burdens related to the development of manufacturing technology, which could ensure that they could jointly develop manufacturing technologies more efficiently, competing with TSMC’s upcoming nodes.

Such alliances typically have two major benefits. On the one hand, the resource requirements of a jointly developed production technology would be shared, and on the other hand, the respective nodes based on it would be similar to each other, which would ensure interoperability for customers. This would be fundamentally beneficial for both Intel and Samsung, as each other’s customers can quickly become potential customers, which means a lot to contract manufacturers who are struggling with a lack of customers.

However, such an alliance could only be realized in the longer term, because in the case of a node on the finish line, it is no longer worth getting involved in development, but in connection with later production technologies, it is possible to talk about joint planning.
