WRC returns to Croatia

After the disappointment of the news earlier this year that Rally Croatia will not be part of the World Rally Championship in 2025, great news has now arrived from the organizers.

After Croatia hosted the WRC as the most elite rally championship for four years from 2021 to 2024, in 2025 Croatia is not planned in the competition calendar of this Championship. Although this disappointed many fans of the royal discipline of motorsport, it is now certain that the fastest rally drivers in the world will return to speed tests in Croatia as early as 2026, he states. In Zagreb, the Croatian organizers and WRC Promoter, the company in charge of organizing the Championship, signed a new agreement on cooperation and organization. More precisely, this new three-year contract now covers two competitions, so it is determined that Croatia Rally will be part of the European Rally Championship in 2025, while Croatia will return to the most prestigious WRC calendar in 2026 and 2027.

The new contract was signed by Daniel Šaškin, in front of the organizing committee of Croatia Rally, and Sajmon Larkin, executive director of WRC Promoter.

In addition to enjoying the rides of the best and fastest rally teams in the world, it is especially important to return this competition to Croatia from the economic and touristic aspects. Thus, each Croatia Rally is followed by around 450,000 live spectators at speed tests, most of them visitors and tourists. Also, studies have been made that conclude that Croatia received promotion worth around 300 million euros through the WRC Croatia Rally, and that ten million euros flowed directly into the state budget through consumption, i.e. the VAT system.
