X5 Group clarified that at the moment not a single complaint about marshmallows with maltitol syrup (including Giselle) has been recorded on the hotline, website or other feedback channels.

“However, due to publications about customer complaints, all sales of marshmallows with maltitol syrup in the Pyaterochka and Perekrestok retail chains and the online hypermarket Vprok.ru have been stopped until all circumstances are clarified; the product cannot be ordered at the checkout or ordered in the app; store warehouses and distribution centers are blocked for sale,” the press service reported.

  • October 12 Mash reported about the mass poisoning of Vkusville customers who ate marshmallows from the Classic brand.

  • A retailer representative said that the information about the poisoning is not true. The company emphasized that maltitol is a legally permitted additive, and the marshmallow itself has passed all routine laboratory tests. Vkusville promised to send new samples of marshmallows for unscheduled studies to confirm safety.

  • October 15 reportedthat “dozens” of customers of Pyaterochka and Perekrestok complained of being poisoned by Giselle marshmallows. According to the Telegram channel, “Giselle” and “Classic” are produced at the same plant in Dmitrov near Moscow.
