Microsoft announced the end of the Xbox Ambassador program after 13 years of operation. The initiative will be phased out on October 15, 2023, with the company citing the need to adapt to the “needs of our global community” as the primary reason.
The Xbox Ambassador program was a loyalty system that offered rewards to registered users, encouraging their involvement in promoting the Xbox platform. However, Microsoft has noticed that gamers are moving on to other initiatives such as Xbox Insider, Fanfest e Xbox Rewardsmaking the Ambassador program less relevant.
Microsoft said: “Thanks to the work of this group, the opportunity for players to experience the joy of play is more global and inclusive than ever before, and we believe now is the right time to bring the teachings and values of the Ambassador community into all of our player engagement programs.”.
Xbox Ambassador’s Last Month
Seasonal Ambassador missions will be phased out and the resources will be directed to the Xbox Rewards and Xbox Research programs. Microsoft has announced that it will provide more details on these initiatives soon.
New opportunities for players
The company stressed that Gamers will have new opportunities to share their feedback directly through Xbox Researchoffering early access to new games and features and helping improve the Xbox experience.
Microsoft also announced the evolution of the platform within the new Xbox Community Champions. “We recognize that this evolution of the program may feel like a loss to some of you, but our work to maintain an inclusive community of thoughtful players continues in new and expanded ways.”the company said.
The Xbox Ambassador Program will officially end on October 15ththe date by which existing members will be able to claim their pending rewards. Microsoft also promised a “special thank you” to members who were active during the last season, though the details of that initiative have not yet been announced.
