Xbox has been working on its mobile store for at least over a year, through which players could comfortably buy and play games via mobile phone. It is already ready, but its release is allegedly blocked by Google.
As the president claims Xbox Sarah Bond, the original plan was to release the app in November. But in a new statement, they claim that release is now impossible due to Google and a court order to revamp the store’s rules. This has to change due to Epic Games’ long-standing battle against both Apple and Google and their ban on downloading and buying things from stores other than their own. This fight forced Apple, for example, to open up iOS to apps outside the App Store.
For now, Google is still not allowing Microsoft to release a new store, the reason being the alleged remaking of the rules due to the court order. While Microsoft disagrees with this, Google defends itself by saying that Xbox already has its own app on the store and can sell games through it – but management has reportedly decided not to do so and release a new app instead.
The director of Epic Games hastened to this statement, saying that Google’s statement is a lie. It also refers to the fact that Google takes 30% of the amount, which Microsoft apparently does not want to accede to.
Players will most likely have to wait for some time – even with the already built application, Google will still need some time to revise their rules.
