Xbox users will be able to decide which parts of certain games they want to install –

With this function, we can save storage space and time.

In the age of modern games, when digital libraries and downloads are a significant part of ecosystems, many people are trying to find ways to control not only download speed, but also the size of software and the space it occupies. One of the experimental features of the Xbox Insider program is trying to provide a solution for just that – providing users with a more flexible and controlled installation.

Members of the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead circles have recently been given the option to select which “parts” of a given game they want to download even before installation.

In practice, this means that users can decide whether they want to download, for example, multiplayer content or certain HD textures for games that support the feature. By customizing the installations in this way, we can save not only storage space, but also time during downloads, and by the way, we can save ourselves from content that is less interesting to us.

Looking at the future plans of the Greens, it is not surprising that optimization of the digital playing field is a priority. There are legitimate questions about storage (after all, the Xbox Series S can’t fit too much, not to mention the ever-increasing size of games), but the introduction of such and similar functions will be a great help to users.
