Xiaomi introduced the latest range of smartphones with the Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro models. We had the opportunity to test the higher model 14T Pro. It brings many improvements in the field of photography, performance, display and artificial intelligence. The big attraction of the new product is the camera developed already in the fourth generation in cooperation with the Leica brand, which supplies top Summilux optics.
The Xiaomi 14T Pro is equipped with three cameras, which allows more flexibility when photographing different scenes. The main camera is 50 Mpx and has an aperture of f/1.6, an improvement over previous models that allows it to capture 32% more light. You will appreciate this difference especially when taking night photos or in low-light environments. The large Light Fusion 900 image sensor improves the quality of the captured details, which leads to a stronger contrast and a better display of the color gamut. There is also a 50 Mpx telephoto lens with an aperture of f/2.0 and a focal length of 60 mm, which is suitable for portrait photography or close-up shots from a greater distance. An ultra-wide-angle 12 Mpx lens with a focal length of 15 mm and an aperture of f/2.2 allows you to capture wide scenes with minimal distortion.
Software improvements from Leica offer several photo styles, the classic Leica shutter sound and special filters that give your shots an interesting look. Xiaomi AISP technology (FusionLM, ColorLM, ToneLM and PortraitLM) further improves the dynamic range, colors and portrait photos, while adding a natural bokeh effect.
The Xiaomi 14T Pro also excels in night photography thanks to the UltraHDR function, which maximizes the dynamic range of night scenes and captures details that would otherwise remain hidden in the shadows or overexposed in the bright parts of the shot.
The novelty records videos up to 8K resolution at 30 fps. For those looking to create cinematic-looking videos, there’s Movie mode, which records in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio and adds a natural bokeh effect. In MasterCinema mode, videos can be recorded with 10-bit HDR, which provides exceptional color depth and detail in both shadows and highlights. Director mode offers even more control over video production and allows users to create content at a professional level.
The Xiaomi 14T Pro is powered by the latest MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor, which offers high performance thanks to a quad-core CPU clocked at up to 3.4GHz. The processor uses 4 nm technology, which improves energy efficiency, resulting in longer battery life even under heavy load. Thanks to 12 GB of RAM (LPDDR5X) and in our case up to 1 TB of storage (UFS 4.0), the phone is ready to handle even the most demanding applications and games. Artificial intelligence calculations are provided by the MediaTek NPU 790.
For gamers, the Xiaomi 14T Pro offers improved graphics with the Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU, which provides up to 44% better performance than previous models. In order for the phone to handle demanding tasks without overheating, Xiaomi equipped the 14T Pro with the advanced Xiaomi 3D IceLoop cooling system, which effectively dissipates heat and maintains optimal performance.
The Xiaomi 14T Pro comes with the latest operating system with the Xiaomi HyperOS extension, which integrates a number of advanced AI (artificial intelligence) features. Among them, Circle to Search stands out – a function that allows users to search for information directly on the screen without the need to switch between applications. In addition, it offers AI Notes and AI Interpreter, features that make it easier to work with real-time recordings and translations. In the near future, they should also be available in Slovak and Czech, unfortunately, this update did not arrive by the end of our test. They also offer intelligent content management through AI image editing and AI filming. AI image and video processing simplifies photo and video editing, providing users with suggestions for improving composition, syncing music, and other features to create engaging content. Thanks to these features, the Xiaomi 14T Pro provides an exceptional experience for both everyday tasks and creative content creation.
The device is equipped with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1.5K (2712 × 1220) and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. This display supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision technologies and reaches a maximum brightness of up to 4000 nits, which guarantees unrivaled visibility even in direct sunlight. In addition, the phone is equipped with TÜV Rheinland certification for low levels of blue light, which reduces eye strain during long-term use.
The large battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh supports extremely fast up to 120 W charging via cable and 50 W wireless charging. Thanks to this technology, the battery can be charged to 100% in just 19 minutes with cable charging and 45 minutes with wireless charging.
The phone is designed with an emphasis on elegance and durability, while offering premium materials and modern design elements. Its frame is made of aluminum alloy, which is supposed to be 116% stronger than previous models. In addition, the phone has IP68 protection, which means that it is resistant to dust and water. The design is based on the motif of metal, with which the colors on offer also correspond: Titan Gray, Titan Blue and Titan Black. These metallic shades give the phone a luxurious look, while the 3D curved back cover improves grip and comfort when holding the device. The design therefore combines modern style with practical elements of durability.
The novelty supports the latest communication standards, including 5G, Wi-Fi 7, NFC and the latest bluetooth 5.4. Stereo speakers with both Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos support provide surprisingly good sound. The wireless connection of the headphones is supported via Hi-Res Audio Wireless, which provides crystal clear sound without the need for a physical connection.
I have to admit that I often approach the evaluation of mobile phone cameras with disdain, which stems from their generally low quality. Most of the time, all the photos look good on the mobile screen, the small size of the display easily hides a lot of flaws, and the algorithms sharpen and color everything to make it look good. However, nothing is hidden when displaying a photo on a 43″ 4K monitor. I have to admit that the new Xiaomi 14T Pro did a great job here. It handled images from a dimly lit interior, in addition to dark walls, perfectly. The photos are well rendered, have true colors and imperceptible noise. Thanks to the excellent brightness of the lens, sensitive sensor and top processing, the main camera provides excellent results and night photography could be learned here The performance of the device is excellent and you will not have a problem with the latest games. The user interface is simple and easy to use. It is an interesting candidate for your future mobile phone.
