Xiaomi has introduced two new e-scooters. However, it is still unclear whether these will also come to Germany.
The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has introduced two new e-scooter models: the Electric Scooter 5 and the Electric Scooter 5 Pro. We’re taking a closer look at both models, even though nothing is known about a German launch yet.
The Electric Scooter 5 has a motor with a peak power of 700 watts that can handle gradients of up to 18 percent. The 477 Wh battery enables travel of up to 60 kilometers on a single charge. Damping with two springs on the front wheel ensures driving comfort. The scooter is protected against water according to IPX5 and is equipped with 10 inch tubeless tires. It also offers lighting, indicators, a display on the handlebars and app connectivity.
The Pro model, the Electric Scooter 5 Pro, offers increased motor power of up to 1,000 watts and can overcome gradients of up to 22 percent. In addition to the identical battery capacity and range, the scooter has a double suspension fork and a suspended rear swing arm for improved driving comfort. Safety features include traction control (TCS), dual braking system and full lighting including turn signals.
Both models are currently on the Xiaomi global website listed, but there is still no information on prices or availability in Europe. So it remains to be seen whether Xiaomi will offer variants with an adjusted maximum speed for the German market.
