During his annual keynote speech, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun unveiled the SU7 Ultra. Designed to compete on the famous Nürburgring circuit in Germany, this performance car is a major evolution of the recently launched SU7. The prototype boasts impressive specifications: a top speed of over 350 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds! The Ultra’s power reaches 1,548 horsepower thanks to its three electric motors.

The SU7 Ultra also features a full carbon fiber body, reducing its overall weight to around 1,900 kg. The use of the CATL Qilin battery, capable of fully recharging in less than 12 minutes, underlines Xiaomi’s technological ambition in this project. The manufacturer aims to record an exceptional lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in October, which could mark a new milestone in high-performance electric vehicle competition.
Xiaomi is not just competing with existing electric vehicles: the manufacturer aims to set new records. Currently, the record for electric vehicles at the Nürburgring is held by the Volkswagen ID.R, while the record for four-door electric cars belongs to the Porsche Taycan with a time of 7 minutes and 7 seconds.
Since its launch last March, Xiaomi’s SU7 has been a huge success, with over 10,000 units shipped and nearly 89,000 pre-orders in less than 24 hours. Faced with this demand, Xiaomi has adjusted its production by adopting a two-shift work schedule at its factory in Yizhuang, Beijing. This organization makes it possible to produce one SU7 every 76 seconds, or around 40 units per hour.
The current SU7 lineup includes three variants: Standard, Pro, and Max, with prices of $29,700, $33,832, and $41,261 respectively. While pricing details for the Ultra have yet to be announced, it’s clear that Xiaomi is targeting a market segment where performance trumps price.
Xiaomi has yet to announce a release date or availability for the SU7 Ultra. However, given the hype surrounding the standard version of the SU7, it is likely that the Ultra prototype will catch the attention of car enthusiasts around the world. It remains to be seen whether this hypercar will be available internationally or whether it will remain exclusive to China.
