The offer of tablets on the market today is quite rich, and it is increasingly difficult for manufacturers to come up with something revolutionary. The products are divided into two basic categories. The first one is cheap tablets, where the price comes first and performance and equipment are not considered too much.
Such models are primarily aimed at consuming content, browsing e-mails or social networks, or help with teaching or presentations. In the second category, there are models with powerful hardware and an excellent display, intended primarily for work, often with stylus support. These also include the tested novelty from Xiaomi. The new Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro catches your eye at first sight with its elegant metal body and 12.4-inch 3K display. The metal frame has sharp edges at the top and bottom, so the device holds well. The tablet is available in a single color, dark gray graphite. Its thickness is only 7 mm, which is remarkable for a tablet with this equipment. The edges hide up to six speakers, which are surprisingly well integrated into the thin design. On the back there is an island with cameras, which slightly protrudes from the body of the tablet. This leaves no other option than to use the tablet either with a cover or with a keyboard that includes the cover. Otherwise, your tablet would wobble when placed on the table.
The device can also be used with the Focus Pen, which is attached magnetically to the upper edge of the tablet, where it is also charged. It is intended exclusively for Xiaomi devices, but it is not part of the package, it must be purchased separately if we did not have it available for the test piece.
As I already indicated, the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro is a powerful tablet, suitable for demanding work tasks, which is matched by its equipment and price. The display is of the LCD IPS type, which means that although it does not offer as much contrast as OLED displays, it still provides high resolution and a smooth display with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. With a maximum brightness of 900 nits, it is bright enough for outdoor use, although it may reflect more light in direct sunlight. The tablet is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen.2 processor, which, together with 8 GB of RAM, ensures the smooth operation of even demanding applications and games. In addition to the tested version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, it is also available with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Thanks to the high-performance chipset, you can process even the most demanding tasks or play demanding games on the tablet. You also performed very well in synthetic tests.
Excellent sound is ensured by up to six speakers with Dolby Atmos support, which provide a great sound experience. The sound is clean and clear, even when playing action scenes in movies or listening to music with multi-channel mixes. Sound is one of the key features of the tablet and it sounds very good, even with a strong surround effect.
Of course, even the best tablet means nothing if it doesn’t have a good power supply and if it can’t be charged quickly. However, this is not the case with this model. The battery with a capacity of 10,000 mAh provides up to 9 hours of normal use. The 120W fast charging allows you to charge the battery from 0% to 100% in about 43 minutes, which is an excellent result. The charger is included, which should be followed by other manufacturers. The tablet runs on the Android 14 operating system with the Xiaomi HyperOS superstructure. This system is less demanding on resources and offers a simple and intuitive interface. HyperOS comes with a few pre-installed apps from Xiaomi that you can remove if you don’t need them. But some apps, such as Mi Browser, cannot be uninstalled. It may be a bit disappointing that the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro will only receive two years of operating system updates and three years of security updates. Compared to competitors such as Samsung or Google, this support is short, which may be limiting for some users. The Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro is a great tablet for those looking for a powerful Android model with lots of features for entertainment and creative work. The accessory lacks a stylus, but if advanced and drawing features aren’t a priority for you, you might want to consider the cheaper Xiaomi Pad 6. However, the lack of long-term software support may be a drawback for some users, especially if they’re looking for a device for longer use.
PROS, CONS:
+ High-quality smooth display, endurance, fast charging with 120 W power, the Focus Pen stylus provides many possibilities of use
– Limited software support, stylus not included, lack of 5G
