Xiaomi has announced a prototype of its new electric vehicle, the SU7 Ultra.
The outer body elements are made entirely of carbon fiber, which helps the electric car weigh 1,900 kg. There is also a spoiler to improve aerodynamic performance.
Under the hood is a powerful power plant: two HyperEngine V8s and one V6 for a total of 1,548 horsepower. Peak torque reaches 635 Nm per engine, which the company calls a world record. The new product accelerates to 100 km/h in 1.97 seconds, and to 300 km/h in 15 seconds.
For comparison, the Bugatti Chiron has 1,500 horsepower. And it accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds. However, the hypercar still wins in peak speed with a figure of 440 km/h versus 350 km/h for Xiaomi.
In October, the Chinese will test the SU7 Ultra on the famous 20.8 km Nürburgring Nordschleife track. Xiaomi wants to set a record there.
The price of Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is not yet known. It is only a prototype for now, and it does not have a release date.
