XPENG Electric Car Will Be Launched Soon in Indonesia

DAPURPACUID – The Indonesian automotive industry has welcomed another new player from China, namely XPENG, through its official distributor Erajaya Active Lifestyle (ERAL).

The electric vehicle brand is scheduled to be introduced at the beginning of this year, immediately bringing in its first two models, namely the G6 and X9, with different segmentations.

The appointment of ERAL as XPENG’s official APM was through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) represented by Djohan Sutanto (CEO) and Alex Tang as Head of International Division of Sales and Service XPENG.

For XPENG, this is a significant step in global expansion, especially in Asia, as well as strengthening its commitment to delivering AI-based sustainable mobility solutions throughout the world.

Djohan said that this collaboration was an important achievement for the company with a strategic step in entering the electric vehicle (EV) business as their brand holder agent.

“We are proud to collaborate with XPENG, one of the world’s leading EV players, to encourage the development of the electric vehicle industry in the country,” he added.

Armed with experience in retail and distribution, ERAL expanded its business into the automotive industry, relying on its strong network, trusted reputation and expertise in the lifestyle sector.

Djohan also confirmed that ERAL will receive full support, including providing various services for potential customers, from import, assembly, to after-sales.

It is stated that the momentum of this brand’s entry has benefited from the government’s target of reaching 2 million electric cars and 31,000 charging stations (SPKLU) by 2030.

This includes providing incentives in the form of tax reductions for purchasing electric cars and encouraging local assembly processes in Indonesia.

He emphasized that the growth of electric vehicles is not only a global trend, but also an important part of the economic transformation towards a green and sustainable economy.

Based on Gaikindo data, sales of electric cars from all brands in the period January to July 2024 will more than double compared to the previous year.

“We are confident that the technological advantages and various products offered by XPENG will be well received by the Indonesian people,” added Djohan.

On the other hand, Alex said, this partnership was a step in XPENG’s global expansion. His party is also enthusiastic about introducing the new standard of electric mobility to Indonesian consumers.

He claims that the XPENG model series combines innovative technology with modern design, while meeting the needs of today’s drivers, especially in Indonesia.

“With a vision of mobility defined by AI, we aim to revolutionize the driving experience in Indonesia, making it safer, smarter, more sustainable and more fun in the future,” he concluded.

The partnership with ERAL continues XPENG’s recent expansion into the Southeast Asian market, in line with its goal of becoming a significant global player in the electric vehicle sector.

XPENG’s journey in Southeast Asia begins in 2024, via Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. This year, XPENG will begin its journey in Indonesia, as part of its expansion to more than 60 international markets.

The main vision is that half of its sales come from markets outside China. This new growth phase marks XPENG’s dedication to driving the future of AI-powered mobility worldwide.

The launch of the G6 and X9 will set new standards in Indonesia, offering premium and innovative solutions for consumers looking for a high-performance and environmentally friendly driving experience.
