Yandex presented a new generation of generative neural networks, YandexGPT 4. The line includes “a powerful Pro language model and a lightweight Lite version,” the company said in a statement received by RB.RU.

The new models are better at text processing, can reason and work with queries of up to 60 pages – this is four times more than before, the company noted. Pro solves more complex problems such as sales analysis, while Lite is designed for quick answers in simple scenarios.
You can test them through a demo version in the Yandex Cloud chat. In the future, the models will appear in Yandex services, primarily at the Alice station with the “Pro” option. For now, some functions of YandexGPT 4 are working in test mode.
According to the company, YandexGPT 4 Pro provides better answers in 70% of cases compared to the previous version and for a number of tasks is closer to GPT-4o, a multi-module generative transformer model released by OpenAI in May 2024.
New Yandex models can solve problems step by step thanks to the chain-of-thought function, breaking them down into separate stages. In addition, YandexGPT 4 can generate commands for third-party applications. For example, a neural network can write a command for a service to search for airline tickets.
In September, a text editor powered by YandexGPT was added to Yandex Browser, as well as a neural translator and a tool for briefly retelling texts.
