Chinese-Malaysian actress Yang Ji-kyung (62), who became the first Asian actress to win the American Academy Award for Best Actress, confessed to being infertile.
On the 18th (local time), the Daily Mail reported that Yang Yeo said in an interview with the Sunday Times, “Not being able to have children was the greatest sadness of my life.”
According to the Daily Mail, Yang Yeo-kyung was diagnosed with infertility during her marriage to a chaebol classmate (Dixon Poon) from 1988 to 1992.
She said that infertility was one of the causes of her divorce. “We did everything necessary (to have a child), but unfortunately I couldn’t have a child,” she said. “My ex-husband wanted a big family, and he needed a son to take over the business.”
Yang Yang-gyeong said that although she is saddened by her infertility, she does not live with regrets.
“Instead of not being able to have children, I have six godchildren and many nieces and nephews,” he said. “I have no regrets because I always gave 110%. “I made every effort,” he emphasized.
“Sometimes that’s not enough,” he said. “In life, we have to learn how to let go, and sometimes letting go helps us move forward.”
Yang Yang-kyung married former Ferrari CEO Jang Tod (78) in July of last year after 19 years of dating. They met in Shanghai on June 4, 2004. It was reported that Todd proposed on July 26 of the same year and Yang Yeo-gyeong accepted.
Meanwhile, Yang Yang-kyung retired after marrying her anti-Jeoksaeng husband in 1988. After divorcing in 1992, four years later, she returned with the movie ‘Police Story 3’ that year.
She appeared as the first Asian Bond girl in ‘007 Never Dies’ (1998), and also appeared in ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ (2000) and ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’ (2006).
At the 95th Academy Awards (Oscars) in March last year, she won the Best Actress Award for the movie ‘Everything, Everywhere All at Once.’ This is the first Asian actor.
Recently, the movie ‘Wicked’ starring Yeo Ja-kyung is being screened to rave reviews in theaters across the country.
‘Wicked’ is about the unexpected crises and adventures that Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), who has not yet discovered her true power, and Glinda (Ariana Grande), who has not discovered her true nature, face as they build friendship. It’s a green story.
Yang Yeo-kyung appears as ‘Madame Morrible’, the president of She’s University, who recognizes ‘Elphaba’s’ abilities.
