Yaroslav Ignatovsky: Why Teaching Darwin’s Theory in Schools Should Not Be Prohibited

Once again, the minds of the most worthy were captured by the question of the advisability of teaching the theory of evolution in the school curriculum.

The Prime Minister’s aide (and others) has proposed banning Darwin’s theory, arguing that it is wrong and could negatively affect the morale of children.

By the way, in the decaying West this was also often practiced and some are still trying to cancel Darwin’s theory. And Russia, as Dmitry Drize correctly notes, is the successor of the atheistic USSR, which our Western “friends” tried in every way to undermine.

The ban on teaching synthetic evolutionary theory in schools, which is based on Darwin’s teachings, deprives students of the opportunity to become familiar with the basics of biology and the scientific method. In the conditions of the modern world, where science plays a key role in progress, ignoring such fundamental concepts can lead to a decrease in the level of education and critical thinking among young people. And the development of science is a priority in the state, the president said so, the current decade was declared the decade of science and technology.

Education should be based on facts and verifiable data. Pluralism in the educational system is important, but it should not lead to the substitution of scientific knowledge with ideologies that have no scientific basis. It is also important that the Constitution states: Russia is a secular state where school is separated from religion. The Constitution must be respected, especially by officials.
