You are turning the Olympics into a circus, the Russians laugh. The French were criticized for several mistakes and they are talking about a political scandal – Paris 2024 Olympics – Summer Olympics

No one is perfect, they tend to say it when they make various mistakes. This also applies to the organizers of the Olympic Games in Paris.

After facing a barrage of criticism for a controversial opening ceremony in which, among other things, the Olympic flag was flown upside down, the French continue to waver.

One of them happened during the second day of the competition. The scene was swimming pools.

Before the women’s 100m breaststroke semi-final, the home team apparently mistook Ruta Meilutyte for someone else. When she started, the Lithuanian flag was not lit behind the Olympic champion from London 2012, but the flag belonging to neutral athletes.

Russians and Belarusians perform under her. Therefore, precisely in these countries, which have a ban on starting under five rings because of the war in Ukraine, they noticed the mistake.

“Given the historically tense relations between Russia and Lithuania, such a mistake could cause a serious political scandal,” sovsport.ru website commented on the unfortunate moment.

However, the curious moments from the swimming pools did not end there. The organizers made a similar mistake with the Argentinian Macarena Ceballosová.

They gave it a Chinese flag for a change.

“The Olympics is turning into a real circus. Athletes who are proud of their country could be offended by something like this,” the Russians snarled at the French.

The most recent misstep occurred on the basketball board.

Before South Sudan’s duel with Puerto Rico, the organizers played the wrong anthem for the African team.

The loudspeakers played the anthem of the Republic of Sudan, from which South Sudan gained independence thirteen years ago.

This led to a short delay. The South Sudanese players were finally played the national anthem once more. Right this time.
