Google-owned navigation app Waze has undergone a major update. Developers have integrated artificial intelligence into it to a greater extent. Artificial intelligence will make the app even more useful for drivers.
The Waze app has been updated
Waze already had AI features in the past, but now Google has integrated Gemini. Artificial intelligence will make the app more useful and drivers will feel safer on the roads. Road incident reporting takes on a new dimension.
Until now, you could use the app to inform other drivers about what is happening on the roads. For example, about road closures, speed limits, accidents or police patrols and the like. However, if you wanted to concentrate on driving, it was difficult.
Integrated AI
Fortunately, the integration of artificial intelligence will make this process safer. Google is introducing a feature called Conversational Reporting to the Waze app. Voice control for reporting accidents has been updated and will be much more natural thanks to Google Gemini technology.
Conversational reporting speeds up the whole process so you don’t get distracted while driving and can focus on the road. Just tap the report button on the screen and then describe what problem you encountered on the road. Gemini understands context, so your reporting doesn’t have to be perfect.
How will it work?
For example, Waze may prompt you to describe what you see on the road. Otherwise, the whole process does not require any further intervention from you. This means you can fully concentrate on driving.
Waze will also start adding school zones to the map. Respectively, these zones can be reported by the drivers themselves. These areas require increased security because they are more likely to have children. When you activate a school zone on the map, Waze will alert you that you will be driving near a school.
Availability of features
Conversational reporting will first launch for trusted Waze beta testers on Android and iOS platforms. This is expected to happen later this week, but for now the feature will only be available in English. Users will have to wait for other languages. Google is planning a sharp deployment in the coming months. Support for school zones should arrive later this year.
