If the interior doesn’t have bright upholstery, the Camry doesn’t really look more like a Corolla on the inside. The switches, the design, the materials are all similar, except that the space is much wider. There are new elements, such as the new 12.3-inch display in the center of the dashboard and the accompanying frame, which extends into the area in front of the passenger with a ribbed, unfortunately piano-shaped part.
The place is wide, the seats are very comfortable
From now on, the entire instrument cluster can be a digital display, and after trying the two versions one after the other, I have to say that this was indeed necessary. The previous, now basic, semi-analog instrument cluster creates a very cheap impression, while with the new display, due to the display and distribution of information, we see a fairly modern and high-quality picture in front of us while driving.
Invariably, we receive a lot of information from the instrument cluster, the settings of the driving support systems must also be handled here. As an interesting development, we can also see when the brake lights flash while driving, which has received an indicator light. So at least we know, the regeneration of the hybrid system can slow down enough to flash the brake lights.
The display of the new 12.3-inch instrument cluster is nice and modern
The new multimedia software has a similar interface to Lexus models, but looks more the same. It’s fast, logical, easy to find what you’re looking for, and can mirror your smartphone wirelessly with very fast communication. Underneath, they left a row of physical buttons for the climate control, there is also a button for seat heating and ventilation, because the leather seats are perforated.
The renewed Toyota Camry gets soft, comfortable seats with adjustable lumbar support. I’m just not satisfied with the height, I’d sit even lower, but that’s a feature of the TNGA-K platform. The driving position is still quite good, this car is not sporty anyway. The rear passengers have to bend down when getting in, my head also hit the frame because I wasn’t paying enough attention, but the space available is excellent even behind a 180-centimeter driver.
The space in the back is huge, access is a bit tight
Not only the passenger compartment, but also the luggage compartment is huge. Our stuff can be packed in a space of 529 liters, just don’t make it too big, because the opening is narrow. At the same time, it contrasts quite well with the atmosphere of the car, that there are quite a lot of visible metal body parts in the cargo area, but at least the hinges have been covered.
