Among the many new features of iOS 18.2, one of the most interesting concerns the possibility of use Face ID to authorize a new computer when connecting an iPhone or iPad. This function, available in the second beta of iOS 18.2, allows users to bypass the classic entry of the unlock code and significantly simplifies the procedure, without compromising security.
Since 2013, Apple has introduced the “Authorize this Computer” message with iOS 7, to protect user data from unauthorized access via USB. Until now, this authorization required entering the unlock code. With the update to iOS 18.2, you now just need to use Face ID to grant this permission, a quick and safe solution especially for those who need to connect the device to new computers without wasting time.
If necessary, you can still reset your computers’ permission settings by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Erase and then selecting the option Reset Location and Privacy.
