Entries are open until February 12th for the Rua de Carnaval 2025 Ensemble and Costume Contest, which will be held on Saturday March 1st. Registration can be done through the portal of the Martorell Municipal Board of People’s Services (PMSAPM) or in person, at the offices. This year, seven prizes will be awarded with a total amount of 10,000 euros: five will be general prizes for the best troupes and costumes, and two special prizes – best float and best choreography.
The rua next March 1 includes, as every year, the Ensembles and Costumes Contest. All gangs that want to participate have until February 12, and must register or through the electronic headquarters -to the PMSAPM portal- or filling out the form that appears on the website and handing it in person at the Board’s offices: at the Comprehensive Sports and Health Center (CIES); at the La Vila Sports Complex; at the Educational Complex or at the PMSAPM Office at Plaça de la Vila, 27.
Sergi Corral, Councilor for Culture, hopes that next March 1st the 33 gangs and nearly 2,000 people who were part of the street last year will be surpassed: “We hope it will be a party with more participation, to get that Martorell is one of the most significant streets in the entire Baix Llobregat and that we improve year after year. We encourage everyone to sign up.”

Only one registration per group will be required, where the name of the group, the costume, the number of participants and the contact details of the group leader must be recorded. It will be necessary to specify whether or not to participate in the Carnival dinner and also, in the event that it is required, to know whether the group needs a vehicle and sound equipment. In addition, the document must specify the person from the gang designated to act as popular jury.
This year’s Pageants and Costumes Competition will consist of seven prizes. Five of them will correspond to the general category of best costume, with a first prize endowed with 2,500 euros; a second of 1,750; a third of 1,500; the fourth of 1,250 and the fifth, of 1,000. There are also special prizes for the best float – 1,000 euros – and the best choreography, also 1,000 euros. The winners will emerge from the votes of the jury and a member designated by each participating gang – who will not be able to vote for their gang – and who will award one vote to each category.
Corral emphasizes that “the most important thing about the Carnival is that everyone has a good time”, and that “the awarding of prizes is maintained, and we are also interested in awarding the best ornamentation and the best choreography, in order to give a more atmosphere festival in the street”.

The verdict will be announced in Ca n’Oliveres around 9:00 p.m., right when the street arrives at the venue and before the fellowship dinner and the family session -9:30 p.m.- and the loft session -1:00 a.m.
