You can repair this modular e-bike battery yourself

The French start-up Gouach Batteries wants to turn the world of electric bicycles upside down. It developed the ‘Infinite Battery’, a modular e-bike battery that promises to not only be cheaper than existing batteries, but is also suitable for almost all e-bike systems and can be repaired by users themselves.

The secret of the Infinite Battery lies in its construction. Instead of cells welded together, as in traditional batteries, the battery uses a modular system. This allows broken parts to be replaced quickly. According to Gouach Batteries, this can also be done by people without prior knowledge of batteries.

Another notable feature is the battery according to Gouach works with almost all e-bike drives. The condition is, of course, that it is a battery that is not integrated into the frame.

Easy installation

Gouach supplies a universal holder for mounting. The cabling works with a kind of plug system, so you don’t need any tools. After installation, you only have to enter the correct motor type in the accompanying app.

Fire safety

Significant investments have also been made in fire safety and security. The housing is fire resistant and the battery is equipped with sensors that measure, among other things, voltage and temperature. The Infinite Battery also has a humidity and acceleration sensor.

There is currently a crowdfunding campaign for the battery on Indiegogo. A single copy costs 227 euros at the time of writing, but the planned retail price is 306 euros. The Infinite Battery will be delivered to the first customers from January 2025.
