“You know what they did to my family” Learned the real reason why Vandi did not accept to sing in Turkey

Despina Vandi was forced to cancel her planned concert in Cesme, Turkey.

The well-known singer these days is on tour as part of the concerts she gives for her 30 years in music and among the areas where she would appear was the city of Turkey, Cesme. An unexpected event, however, came to cancel her appearance.

According to information, the Greek singer asked for the flag of Turkey, as well as the poster of Kemal Ataturk, to be taken down from the stage, as she did not want her concert to be politicized.

Of course, the name of Despina Vandi is first in the trends of X, as the well-known singer has received a “wave” of support from all over the world, while at the same time she has also received negative messages from the Turks.

The reason he didn’t accept

As is known, Despina Vandi comes from a Pontian family. This is also the reason why she refused to sing with Kemal Atatürk’s poster in her concert, since it is linked to the Pontian genocide. WE DON’T FORGET

Look at the two flags:

Vassilis Bispikis, in a recent interview, talked about his infamous zeibeki and the passionate kiss with Despina Vandi, while referring to cannibalism and the puritanism that exists in Greek society.

Let’s go to something pleasant. Does humor play a role in your life? Do you have a sense of humor?

I think I have and of course it matters. I’m with people who have a sense of humor. I want to laugh in everyday life. Even in the worst situation black humor plays.

Well then I can’t help but ask you. Did you see the Bisbee costume that was released on Halloween? A black T-shirt €4.99.

I laughed, I didn’t mind. What bothers me is the cannibalism from the Media. Cannibalizing my every move. So many things happen and the others sit and watch Bisbikis if he smokes or if he dances. It is ridiculous. But sometimes vulgar. Because you find out how puritanical, conservative and racist we are. They are concerned with my belly, how I dance or how old Despina is. And that’s where you get frustrated with people who are supposed to believe in diversity, who want to open things up, who are into #MeToo and gay rights, but all of a sudden they’re racially targeting a person. Why did many expressions play out and you wonder: Are we finally taking steps forward or is it all for the viewer? Is something of substance being done or is it all a fad? Is #MeToo a fad or will it leave a mark?

Do you feel that you have become fashionable? Have you become a lifestyle?

Well, obviously. Isn’t it like I’ve become some kind of celebrity? Isn’t that how they introduce me? I have never asked a photographer to come and take a picture of me, I don’t go to socials. But whenever I feel like doing something I will do it. I’m going to the bouzoukis to see my girlfriend and have fun. I won’t drink, I won’t smoke, I won’t dance? Should I be careful the camera is not there? Isn’t it a prison to watch out all the time? And if I get drunk and like to do my dirty work and get debauched, I mean what, I’ll think about whether the camera will catch me?

You always speak with honesty but also with a sense of pride for what you have experienced. Do you still have the teenage wildness in you?

Obviously. I’m just not that self-destructive. I keep hanging out with the same guys we were in delinquent stories or delinquent types together. I identify, bond, breathe better with these people.

That is, let’s not imagine you hanging out with paper-collars, yuppies…

I can’t label people. Because there are also huge bums under the suits.

You mean, I guess, bums in the good sense…

Yes, clean, decent people. I don’t judge someone by where they live, in Kifissia or Voula, what suit they wear, what car they have, if they have a franc. With nothing. I love people. I think I understand them.
