You may be one of the 21 million French people who will receive an invitation from Health Insurance

You may be one of the 21 million French people who are about to receive an invitation in your mailbox. The system “My prevention report” will give everyone the opportunity to become an actor in their own health, and to be made aware throughout their life of behaviors that are favorable to health.

This invitation will give you the opportunity to have a free “check-up” with a health professional. The opportunity to take stock of your lifestyle habits, to address different questions with the practitioner (dietary hygiene, sleep, physical activity, mental health, violence, sexual health or vaccination) and to receive personalized advice to improve your health.

This is a device that has been the subject of a communication campaign since Monday, September 9, 2024. However, it is not really new: announced in 2022 by the President of the Republic, it was tested in the Hauts-de-France region between October and December 2023 among 45-50 year-olds. It is now being deployed nationwide.

You will be able to benefit from 4 appointments during your life

The aim of this system? To ease the pressure on the health system, in a context of an overall ageing population and an increase in chronic diseases (which affect 3 out of 4 French people over the age of 65).

With this awareness, the Ministry of Health wishes to facilitate the screening of certain chronic diseases such as cancers and better guide the French in a care pathway adapted to their needs.

This system is intended to be long-term. Eventually, every French person will be able to benefit from four appointments during their lifetime, he specifies. Public Health France.

What age groups are affected?

Four key ages are affected by this system: 18 and 25 year olds, 45 and 50 year olds, 60 and 65 year olds and 70 and 75 year olds.

For 60-65 year olds, this appointment allows both to target and manage any chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, cancers, etc.), but also to prevent loss of autonomy. For 70-75 year olds, it is a question of better identifying people in situations of isolation, dependency and disability.

How exactly does it work?

In practice, if you have received an invitation from Health Insurance by email, you simply need to make an appointment with a healthcare professional of your choice, provided that they are willing to take part in this scheme.

You will be asked to prepare a self-questionnaire before your appointment (this self-questionnaire is available on Mon Espace Santé or can be downloaded from the ministry’s website as well as on Ameli.fr). If you have difficulty filling out the questionnaire, it can be completed during the appointment with the help of the healthcare professional.

During the appointment, you will have 30 to 45 minutes to discuss your lifestyle habits with the practitioner. You will be asked to set one or two priorities (for example, related to diet, sleep, physical activity, addictive behavior) on which you would like to improve.

At the end of the assessment, you will complete a “Personalized Prevention Plan” with the healthcare professional with the concrete things to put in place, at your own pace.

The Personalized Prevention Plan is then sent to the treating physician (if he or she is not the healthcare professional carrying out the assessment).
