Check out this OLED television with Google TV
When you look for a new television, you have many choices to make. For example, you have to choose what type of screen you want, which brands you find interesting, how large the television should be, take into account the budget, which software the device uses and whether there are any extras that you find interesting.
In this article we look specifically at OLED televisions equipped with Google TV. Thanks to this operating system, you can get started with almost all the apps you know by simply downloading them from the Play Store. This way you can stream everything from Netflix and Videoland, but you can also use F1 TV, HBO Max or Spotify directly on your smart television.
If you really want to get started with Google TV, manufacturers LG and Samsung are excluded. These brands use their own operating system without good Google support. However, in this article we look at what Philips, Sony and Panasonic have to offer, manufacturers that release OLED televisions with Google integration.
Please note that:
- Prices often fluctuate and may be lower (or higher) than quoted;
- These are products for which you can arrange a discount in the store by asking for them;
- Black Friday is coming and has even started at various (online) stores.
Sony Bravia: 2024- of 2023-model
If you are looking for the latest, then the Sony Bravia 8 series presented in 2024 is definitely worth it. This television is available in sizes of 55 inches, 65 inches and 77 inches and available from 1999 euros.
The entire screen panel is used as a speaker, making the sound of this television above average. Of course, you are looking at a beautiful and large OLED panel whose contrast is infinite and from which the colors pop.
The Sony Bravia 8 is a slim television with all the necessary connections you could wish for – and comes with a nice and handy remote control. Add to that the fact that you can use Google TV and it is a smart choice if you are looking for an OLED television.
Are the prices mentioned too high for you? Then take a look at the Sony XR-A8XL series, for sale from just under 1400 euros for the 55-inch model. The price difference is partly due to the fact that this series dates from 2023. A 65-inch and 77-inch model of this model are also for sale.
The biggest difference between the A80L and A84L is that the latter comes with a premium remote control with a metal finish, while the A80L still has to make do with a plastic remote control.
Philips OLED: something for everyone
If you are looking for a television with Ambilight, then you should of course go to Philips. Thanks to entire rows of LEDs that are incorporated into the back of the television, the viewing experience is very different from other screens. You can have them color along with the images on the screen, but you can also turn on a standard color or, of course, turn it off completely.
The Philips OLED8X9 series is from 2024 and consists of many different models and sizes. For example, Philips offers these OLED televisions from 42 inches to 77 inches. This Philips model is equipped with four HDMI ports, two of which work with the HDMI 2.1 protocol for the latest consoles. Prices start from around 1300 euros, but of course increase considerably if you opt for a larger model.
Do you not need the latest technology and can you get by with a 2023 model? Then you can definitely take a look at the Philips OLED8X8 televisions. This is also available in different sizes and is equipped with Ambilight. The starting price is a lot more reasonable than that of the newer model, which is about 850 euros.
Could things be a lot better for you in terms of image and sound? Then there is the Philips OLED909. It has an integrated soundbar and four-sided Ambilight. The 8X8 and 8X9 series can shine LEDs on three sides. Finally, the panel used in the 909 is also a lot brighter, which certainly makes HDR content stand out better. The OLED909 is available in sizes of 55, 65 and 77 inches and has a starting price of around 1900 euros.
Panasonic
Are Sony and Philips not quite your thing or are you looking for an OLED television without a lot of fuss? Then you can take a look at Panasonic, because this brand also sells excellent televisions with Google TV. If you want an OLED panel, check out the X-XXMZ800E in variants of 42, 48, 55 or 65 inches and for sale from around 850 euros.
So if you are looking for an affordable OLED TV with Google integration, this could definitely be the one for you. However, you must keep in mind that the image quality, sound quality and extras are less than the mentioned televisions from other brands. The availability of this Panasonic model is also an increasingly difficult issue, because the television has been on the market for some time.
OLED televisions without Google TV
As mentioned, there are also some manufacturers on the market for OLED screens that do not use Google TV. LG is known for its beautiful televisions in various series. The entry-level is the LG B4, but you can also look at the brighter C4 or the ultimate top model, the G4, all available in multiple sizes.
Samsung also offers some OLED televisions, which are also equipped with an extra Quantom Dot filter, which makes the colors appear even brighter. You can then look at the S9XD which are almost identical to each other apart from the color. There is also the S95D, the first OLED television with a screen with a matte finish.
Both LGs and Samsung televisions run on their own operating system, from which you can download many (but not all) well-known apps. Of course, you can always opt for an OLED screen without Google integration and add a Chromecast or Google TV Streamer, for example.
