Last year, we skipped the selection of chocolate Advent calendars at Top Santé. For what ? Quite simply because if health journalists start pushing you into vice, the world will no longer turn right!

What are the benefits of chocolate?
It is the antioxidant action of chocolate that is interesting. It protects the aging of some of our cells thanks to its composition of antioxidant substances.
It is composed mainly of carbohydrates (between 50 and 60%, but this depends on the addition of sugar), but also of polyunsaturated fatty acids, protective against cardiovascular diseases. Except that’s not always the case. You obviously have to choose good chocolate.
Dark chocolate is, in fact, known for its interesting magnesium content thanks to its dose of cocoa. A 100 g bar of chocolate provides 110 mg of magnesium, which reduces cramps and greatly contributes to good muscle functioning. This source of magnesium will also allow your body to fight against fatigue.
It is possible to eat chocolate directly after the meal if you are still a little hungry. If you have a craving in the afternoon, consider accompanying it with complex carbohydrates, such as a piece of bread, or a source of protein, such as natural yogurt. You can consume it for pleasure, but while remaining reasonable in quantity.
