Don’t even dream of being able to use the extra cover discs you bought earlier.
Sony has announced that the PlayStation 5 Pro console will not be compatible with the interchangeable cover plates made for the current PS5, and this practically confirms previous rumors and information that has surfaced online. In an official statement given to the American IGN, a representative of Sony admitted that the interchangeable covers of the PS5 console are not compatible with the PS5 Pro.
He added, however, that the company is planning to release special cover plates made specifically for the PS5 Pro model, which will be available for purchase at some point in the future – the question is, who is this comforting, not everyone wants to throw away the previous collection, if they have already invested in an extra, colorful on covers.
The original, A post posted on Reddit its author came to a similar conclusion after testing his cobalt-colored plates on the Pro model. In the post, the author described in detail that while the lower cover is similar to the 2023 Slim model, the upper panel has a different fastening tooth, so it cannot be snapped onto the Pro model.
It seems that if Sony wanted to, compatibility could have been solved, but they didn’t decide that way. By the way, the PlayStation 5 Pro itself will be released on November 7. The test copy has already arrived at our editorial office, as soon as possible we will report in detail how the Pro console turned out.
