You would like to spoil this Toyota Camry – Enthusiast Wanted

The Toyota Camry has been a household name in various parts of the world for many decades. For good reasons: a Camry often gives you a particularly comfortable and good car, without too many pretensions. Particularly in North America, people have been getting away with it for years. Here in the Netherlands, the Camry has always remained somewhat of a rarity and you can no longer buy it new. The last Camry available here went out of production in 2023. By the way, the Camry returned to our country in 2019, after years of absence. The last ‘Dutch’ Camry was certainly not a success, especially if you compare it with the generation we have before us. In the 1990s we were still quite keen on a Camry and this generation, called XV20, also did quite well. In the best year, more than 1,200 of them were registered with Dutch license plates. Here we have before us one of the 857 Camry’s registered in 1998, one of the 52 from that year that are still in our country. It’s not just any one, but a real 3.0i GL, so with V6. So tasty. The 190 hp six-cylinder engine helps the Camry go from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds and to a top speed of 220 km/h via an automatic transmission. Not earth-shattering, but still very good. However, the big buying argument for this Camry has to do with something you may not immediately feel or see. Then we talk about its build quality. Even at the age of 26, this can still be a very nice car for daily use, and with a mileage of just under two tons, you should not immediately expect hefty bills. The fact that someone drove it from 2012 to last year also inspires confidence. It is somewhat remarkable that there was then a private individual who only kept it for three months, but hey, maybe he simply discovered that it was not quite his car after all. For €6,450 you can try out ownership yourself, although we can imagine that the price could still be reduced somewhat.
