young people want to work for nine months and rest for three months

It is increasingly difficult to recruit young people into manufacturing, because manufacturing is not a sexy field for young people, and their work habits have changed compared to the previous generation.

“A young person wants to work nine months a year and three months to rest and travel. However, it is difficult to offer such flexibility in production,” said Marelle Pihlak, HR manager of Raplamaa company Saarionen Estonia, at the recognition event for the most successful companies of Viljandimaa, Järvamaa and Raplamaa held last week in Türi.

“But where does it come from? – the young person can’t get a loan today, because he doesn’t have a permanent income, he lives with his parents, he doesn’t have housing costs and he doesn’t have to go to work for the whole year,” he explained.
