BELGRADE – The team of young physicists that represented Serbia at the International Tournament of Young Physicists in Budapest won a bronze medal, showing once again that our country is a breeding ground for talented young people and perhaps future greats of Serbian and world science.
Dunja Dimitrijević, Vuk Dimitrijević, Vukašin Ostojić, Ognjen Janković, Dušan Lazić, as well as Miloš and Petar Petrašinović, who are also the leaders of the Serbian team, showed exceptional knowledge and skills in solving tasks, setting up theoretical models and experiments, as well as debates.
They are also members of the Association of Young Physicists, which aims to increase the interest of young people, primarily high school students, in natural sciences.
To go to this competition, the young physicists needed 5,000 euros, and the SBB Foundation provided them with 380,000 dinars.
In addition to the physicists, the SBB Foundation also helped the departure of young people from Kragujevac from the “Lego Musketeers” team to a robotics competition in America, where they won first place in the Engineering excellence award category at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
The SBB Foundation has been supporting the young talents of Serbia for years through the Scholarship program of Prof. Njegoš B. Šolak, who helps gifted young people on their way to success, providing them with financial, logistical and mentoring support. There are currently 24 young people in the program, who achieve outstanding success, both in domestic and international competitions in various fields of science and art.
