Your Android status bar could be more colorful, but do you really want it?

  • Our status bar could be more colorful in the finale, but do we really want that?

Google is constantly experimenting with features in the Android operating system and is currently testing, in addition to the new desktop mode interesting change for notification. It plans to show not only in the status bar full-color original application icons instead of their modified versions.

The news that observed Android expert Mishaal Rahman, by Mohla also hit the notification center or always-on display. He found the clues he was able to activate in Android 15’s code.

Colored application icons in the status bar can contribute to easier differentiation of individual applications – when I see something pink-purple, I know right away that someone is Instagramming me. However, the original application icons do not look very good on the always-on display, as they are displayed in monochrome.

I admit that with regard to the design, I would rather not welcome the use of full-color original application icons, as the system seems to be cleaner in its current state.

Would you be comfortable with this change?
