Your next Android smartphone could replace Google Fit with this alternative

Google has long offered Google Fit as the default fitness app on Android devices. However, this appears to be about to change with the latest generation of flagship Android phones.

9to5Google noted that Fitbit is the new pre-installed fitness app on OPPO Find X8 Pro. The outlet also claimed that Google Fit was not installed on their phone. Google has indeed declared that the Fitbit app has been available to smartphone manufacturers (apparently as the default app) for a while now:

The Fitbit app has been available to Android OEMs since earlier this year as we continue to support the health and wellness of more consumers. Several device manufacturers have chosen to preload the app on their mobile devices.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen the Fitbit app pre-installed on new smartphones, but it looks like more Android phones will offer it, at the expense of Google Fit. So hopefully Google and Fitbit work hard to bring the remaining Fit features on the Fitbit app, even if initiatives such as Health Connect they definitely help.
