Your room will be “twice as warm” thanks to a clever and inexpensive heating tip

A new trend is circulating on TikTok. This time, it’s neither a drink nor a miracle food, but a heating tip. As temperatures drop and we begin to turn our radiators back on, a technique that would optimize heating has been shared by Internet users. The British daily Express relays it.

Why put aluminum behind your radiator?

The promise is to make your room “twice as hot”, but that’s what the TikTok video claims, so nothing is verified… That said, the idea shared on the social network makes some logical sense . It is about put reflective paper behind the radiators to prevent heat from escaping through the exterior wall and sent back to the room. This would make it possible to optimize the heat produced to benefit from it at home. The advice is for specific paper, but according to Express, aluminum foil might be enough.

The Ecological Transition Agency reminds that a pleasant and comfortable home is firstly a well-insulated home to limit humidity (the rate of which should ideally be between 40% and 60%) and prevent the walls from being too cold (because they then “suck” heat from the body).

ADEME points out that heating represents 66% of a household’s energy consumption and that in 10 years, the prices of gas and electricity have increased by 41% and 23%. It is very important to ventilate for 10 minutes a day, even in winter, for better air quality.
