your television will receive these new functions

Samsung is bringing its One UI operating system to televisions from today. The manufacturer has started rolling out a major One UI update for smart TVs. The company is trying to make more and more of its devices smarter. And when you hear ‘smart’, you naturally think of AI.

Our ink was not yet dry when the new One UI update for Samsung smart TVs is already being rolled out to TV sets worldwide. During Samsung’s developer conference a few days ago, the South Korean company promised that One UI would be coming to its TVs, with better security, more apps and AI features. This last improvement should also contribute to the improvement of video and audio quality. Remarkably, the software update is being rolled out at a rapid pace to a selection of smart TVs shortly after the event.

The main change consists of just two letters: AI. As you might expect these days, artificial intelligence is now also integrated into your television in addition to your washing machine. But do you need a new TV for that? No, because they can simply send this update to your TV over the air.

Where you previously used version 7.0 of the Tizen operating system, with the latest update you will be able to use version 8.0. This new version contains the announced improvements and should also make it easier to connect to your smartphone. ChatGPT is also supported.

Seven years of updates

But perhaps the best news is that this new software version will be supported for no less than seven years. This means that you should only consider a new TV around 2031, provided we have not already switched to another medium by then, of course.

With the announcement and the big promise of long-term support, it is clear that Samsung wants to convince customers to commit to its ecosystem. By connecting as many devices as possible in a smart way, the tech company hopes to close the circle, literally and figuratively. Samsung also recently introduced a smart ring. This is desperately needed to help the company through a difficult period.
